I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve posted! Life has been insane to a whole new level thanks to endless assignments which have made no sense, but luckily two big ones are done (or at least I submitted before the due date, though who knows if they’re anywhere near correct!) so I’m back and ready to take on projects again. What better way to get back into the swing of things than with a WIAW?
Breakfast/05h45: 1 medium frozen banana, lettuce, mint and water with NuNaturals lemon NuStevia smoothie bowl with 1 TBSP oat bran for fluff and stuff. I really, really didn’t want to get out of bed, in part because I celebrated my freedom by playing Oblivion until midnight, and also because I think I have a stomach infection. Ha, thought you’d get away without TMI? Nope! Usually the thought of breakfast is enough to motivate me to do just about anything, but it was not one of those days.Second breakfast/08h00: 1/2 cup brown rice with 1/2 cup soy milk, 1 TBSP chia seeds and cinnamon. There was a fire drill at school, which is ridiculous because it’s winter and such a thing borders on sadistic, but it gave me an opportunity to build up an appetite, sort of. I’m still getting to grips with my new stove/oven so the rice wasn’t perfectly cooked, but it was still an interesting combination that reminds me a lot of the super awesome superfood smoothie rice porridge bowl I made for 29 days of rice. My apologies for this deeply uninviting photo!I also got to potter around the school to cart stuff around and marvelled at the crazy grounds at the school. When you’re a student at a school it’s very difficult to take in quiet moments where you admire things as they are since you usually are dashing between classes or sulking after school waiting to go home.Tea-time/10h00: steamed carrots – vegan candy!Early lunch/11h50: I thought I could hold out but nope, I apple’d it up before I hit the road to job #2.Lunch/12h30: Steamed eggplant and baby marrow with some chickpeas + coffeePost-work munchies/16h45: green pepper, lettuce and cucumber sticks with coffee (this was bliss – so much green!) Dinner/18h30: zucchini pasta, homemade tomato sauce, steamed spinach and green beans. We really need to make a plan to set up an elevated veggie garden, since our ground is not suitable for such pursuits after a disastrous attempt at being able to feed ourselves sustainably. Ma-thing has done such a wonderful job with the garden, but terribly ground will only get you so far!Dessert/19h30: Man-made custard, flourless veggie brownies (hint: cauliflower and zucchini feature :p) with 1 heaped tsp cashew butter, 1 tsp cacao + 1 TBSP boiling water mixed. yummm Late night snack: 1 cauliflower flatbread, hummus, cucumber and 1/2 cup popcorn, followed by two unpictured rice crackers and a veggie sausage. Snacks end up happening when you stay up late. :p
All in all a decidedly green day! I was back at work after not feeling well on Monday, so comfort food was definitely the theme, and a lot of my comfort food happens to be green. I usually buy a ridiculous amount of cucumbers because they make the best computer snacks, but I also figure there’s the added bonus of hydration for when I don’t get around to things like drinking water in its pure state (since coffee is much easier).
In other news, Chino, our blind foster boy, went for his hernia operation today (plus a bit of neutering for good measure), is recovering nicely, and is going to his new home on Friday! 😀 I think this is the quickest turnaround for any cat, and a blind adult cat to boot 🙂 I was feeling pretty morose over the weekend and took loadshedding as an excuse to see my three fabulous boys at the cat shelter, who are doing marvellously. They were cooing and purring and I just wanted to bundle them up and take them home, but I’m holding thumbs that they get perfect forever homes. Hermes has already been booked, so I’m so happy I got to see him again ❤In the meantime, we’ve got some awesome kitties of our own to keep the spirits high in trying times! I must admit this crazy course I’m doing is getting me down because of how badly it’s organized, but when I get to cuddle with these fluff monsters or they deign to purr in my direction everything goes warm and fuzzy.
