Since yesterday was my day off I’m once again back to show what I ate yesterday on Wednesday. What was your favourite meal of the week thus far? I have or two Sachertorte Ice-cream Cones in the freezer taunting me at the moment – yum. I digress, let’s look to more recent treats!
With regard to today’s title, it’s back on the road in some ways because I went for a walk a day or two ago with a pal for the first time in forever since she’s recovering from surgery so we’re pretty much on the same mental level when it comes to physical discomfort (I won’t say physical because apples and oranges). Alas, winter means rainy season which means we got splashed on pretty heavily halfway through, and it looks set to go that way again tonight, which of course negates any serious attempts at kicking into exercise one foot at a time when your feet are going to get wet. Bah!
Breakfast 1/06h20: I was in a pretty foul mood yesterday morning so I did what I do best: comfort eat my way through two cookies and black coffee. Comfort eating is something I haven’t really been able to get over, but sometimes you just need something chocolate-y and something as fickle as time won’t stand in your way.
Breakfast 2/06h50: papaya, protein powder, cucumber, zucchini, lettuce + psyllium husks and soy milk smoothie bowl. I found papaya on special over the weekend and my squee and glee cannot be contained – I am SO psyched and sick of bananas as my smoothie staple. There’s something so refreshing and wonderous about papaya that makes smoothie bowls just all the more sparkly.Tea-time/10h30: Grapefruit, 2 steamed carrots + protein powder/hot water drink…followed by alfalfa, green beans and steamed eggplant. I had raging munchies thanks to a super long vet visit to removed Freyja’s sterilization stitches and get my four beautiful foster kittens vaccinated. Five totally unimpressed cats in a car yowling their heads off the whole way there and back is no fun! Lunch/12h00: Chickpea pancake, 1 cup steamed pumpkin, 1 tsp tahini and 2 TBSP salsa. Stuff of champions! Followed by a cocoa syrup laced protein powder hot water drink, because I can. For the past few days I’ve had chickpea pancakes with lunch and it is just an amazing source of protein and yumness that I can scoop stuff up with or stuff into more slushy, soup-y things. Dinner/18h00: Lentil, zucchini and spinach stew + salad Dessert/19h30: some vegan jelly, 1 TBSP chia seeds, 1/2 cup soy milk, 2 TBSP protein powder + 1/2 cup frozen banana slices, vegan jelly + some cucumber. Frozen banana is one of my ultimate favourite treats, but having chia soy milk mixtures all up in this is just SO awesome. 😀 Also, I FINALLY got chickpea brine meringues to work!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alas the trick all along was using real sugar, not sweetener. Boo hiss but yay! Now to work on my piping skills…And in further news, since our little miss has been sterilized she’s now allowed to go outside on a leash. When Gatsby was a kitten he absolutely refused it but Freyja, despite her being somewhat terrified (note body language), is at least willing to sniff around the garden. Every day I learn something new, such as making a cat smell a lemon fresh of the tree will make them jump a metre high and try and bolt. So weird! ❤
