WIAW + minimalist munchies

WIAW is here, but this is going to be a super lazy one! I’m constantly disinfecting myself between the healthy and sick kittens so my hands are so scratchy and red that I don’t feel much in the mood for baking. Once I get a whiff of emergency protocols my brain goes into overdrive, so we’ve used up an entire bottle of disinfectant spraying ourselves silly over every whiff of sick kittens in our direction. :p

Still, today’s post is therefore a better indication of what I get up to, rather than having one big splashy WIAW meal to showcase. I know I’m always curious about what other people munch, so come have a squizz at my minimalist munchies!

Since our morning ritual now involves eyedrops, medicated wet food, poop scooping and other joys, I don’t have time for my regular smoothie, so today’s breakfast is much more different to what I’m used to. Still, delicious!

Breakfast/05h30: 1/2 cup oats with 1 cup shredded zucchini, cinnamon, 1 medium banana, 1/2 cup milk + coffeeWP_000643Alas, I just don’t find stuff like this filling though, because it’s a big gap from 05h30 – 10h00! Somehow a smoothie bowl tides me over a lot longer.

Tea-time/10h00: 2 brown rice crackers with 2 tsp tahini and 1/4 avocado and lemon juice + coffee. As you can see, I have *lots* of plans for November, just no time! I’m trying to schedule everything but real life always pops up in the way. When it comes to kittens I’m quick to forgive 😉WP_000645Lunch/12h30: 1 cup steamed marrows, 1/2 cup pumpkin, 1/4 cup mixed beans, 1/2 cup green beans, 4 baby tomatoes + coffee. I forgot to take a snap until I was halfway through – whoops! Also, a carrot.WP_000649 WP_000646Post-work snack/17h30: FINALLY! Papaya-zucchini carob smoothie with 1 TBSP flax powder. Oh yarr! I always use water instead of milk in my smoothies because frozen papaya is kind of creamy on its own. 🙂WP_000651Dinner/18h30: wholewheat spaghetti with tomatoes, zucchini, 1/2 cup pumpkin and green beans. This was the first time in a while I’d had spaghetti and oh man it’s tasty! I usually just go with steamed veg but I figure I needed fuel for the cats anyhow. WP_000652Post-dinner/20h00: 1/2 cup soy milk + 2 TBSP oat bran, cucumber, pickle + some fizzy water (it’s a ridiculous habit I’ve picked up again of late, but it;s just because I love burping like a cowboy). :pWP_000654 WP_000663

So all in all it wasn’t minimalist eats in terms of actually starving (no-one could accuse me of that!). but rather just boring old cowboy food which one would munch every day without thinking too much about it. Sometimes you just get those days where making a peanut butter sandwich is a feat of dexterity and inner balance.

Anyway, with the two kitties in isolation we felt pretty bad about their dire room in comparison to the snazzy official kitten room, so Man-thing was such a lamb and spent half an hour constructing some play boxes for them to jump through. They apparently were all over it in seconds and love ambushing each other – a good sign that they’re recovering their health!WP_000657????? WP_000624 WP_000611 WP_000576Ai, and to top it all off, Pebbles, the bigger black kitty, hurt hir paw somehow (boisterous play most likely), so we’ll have to see how it goes tomorrow – this probably calls for another vet visit! Kittens, alas, do not sit still for hours on end, but jump off every surface, climb walls and windows, and generally test their bodies in ways human babies can only drool about. 😀 ❤
