I can hardly believe the week is half-way done, but so we have it, and it’s all the closer to the weekend, for which I’m super amped. Another 10km fun run/walk is in sights and I cannot wait to stretch the ol pegs and get some fresh air (in between holding my breath when we pass the cows). Anyway, WIAW (or rather, yesterday)!
Breakfast: coffee in bed (thanks to a Man-thing), a smoothie with 1/2 cup banana slices, 1/2 cup strawberries, mint, ginger, cayenne, lettuce and zucchini! <3, and 1/2 cup of oats with lots of cinnamon to boot. TBH I was thinking last night that I should try one of those insane big breakfast smoothies where people stuff a thousand bananas into one drink, but this morning I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. Still, I think I’ll try a Rawtil4 vibe next week, because I figure I shouldn’t smash something until I’ve tried it, although I’ll go bigger on the raw veggies and less wild on the fruit, because yowza!
Post-dinner: 1 red orange, 3 steamed carrots, 1/2 cup applesauce + basmati rice pudding + 1/32 of the recipe for my double chocolate trail mix bites. Oh, and decaf coffee (WOAH I drink a lot more coffee than I thought!
That basmati pudding? Awesomeness. Little tiny bits of chocolate bliss? more awesomeness! 😀 Admittedly there is much excess and spoilage in yesterday’s fare, but I really can’t control myself when it comes to vegetables. I could easily polish off a kg worth of zucchini, easy!
Anyway, I have to admit I’ve been really bad the past few months with being completely healthful and mindful about what I do with my body and how I fuel it. After losing way too much weight at the beginning of the year, to the point where my ribcage could have been a xylophone, I got a bit freaked out and over-compensated in gaining weight again. Sometimes one goes through slumps and this has been a rather hardcore, long-term dip in overall motivation, but lately I’ve been super inspired by real-life people and also some bloggers and youtube-ists who have been rocking it.
Pickles & Honey has an interview with Blissful Chef Christy that was lots of fun to read, and inspiring to boot – it’s amazing to see that food bloggers are such well-rounded people that eventually let their interest and passion for nutrition filter through to the whole mind and body. I love reading Christy’s posts and being psyched for getting in touch with my physical strength, because being something of a wet blanket is no fun.
Emily posted a video the other day of her exercise regime that was pretty much 100% what I used to do when I lived by myself, before Man-thing and I were even bold enough to sit closer than two metres within reach of one another. It gets a bit tricky between furniture, cats, men, and life to find the time and space to bounce around like a crazy thing and throw dumbells everywhere, but I realized yesterday that excuses are lame, and that when you “cheat” you’re only cheating yourself.
I actually LOVE exercise, and nothing feels better than having flushed cheeks, a beating heart, and sweat pouring from the temples. I love that my body can move and function, although I would still be eaten in a zombie apocalypse. Still, it’s never too late to train and at least make them work for their supper!
