Pumpkin brownies and beggars on the floor

Man-thing and I are carrying on with our dinner-time viewing of Mad Men, getting outraged at every moment by the rampant sexism, mind-boggling man-logic, and of course lovely lady outfits. Malcolm Reynolds’ wife is particularly enchanting. 😀 Anyway, last night’s episode was about hobos, and I realized I happen to live with a little poverty-stricken, completely abused little creature.

He’s such an integral part of the baking experience. Either waiting patiently on the carpet until he sees I’m turning down the intensity, then dashes in for a chorus of meows to show how much he’s suffered. Or doing yoga all around my legs whilst I’m busy with boiling liquids, as innocent as a lamb.

We all remember how that turned out for him.
Hot liquids + cat underfoot = a bad time

On a different note, I acquired a kilogram of cubed pumpkin, and have been trying my bestest to use it up wisely. Yesterday it formed part of the lasagna (which is even tastier the next day, by the way), and today it was transformed into brownies, as imagined by Mouth Watering Foods . This person knows what’s what! Soft, squishy, beautiful, easy, somewhat healthy? Hellz yes.

These are obviously man-thing’s post-walk snacks. He doesn’t eat cake or brownies without slathering on jam and peanut butter. ai!

The most shocking part of it all? It was so perfect that I didn’t make one alteration! (other than adding spices, but that’s always expected)

Baked strawberry tofu oatmeal boats in the background… still going strong! Excellent warmed up with a splash of almond butter on top. Nothing better than comfort food when your soul is shrivelling from studies! 😀
